We welcome applications for events, filming and photoshoots.
Bermondsey Square is a versatile 1,600sqm open-air location set in the heart of one of London’s coolest areas. It is home to a fantastic boutique hotel with a roof-top Jacuzzi and several private suites; a 48 seat independent cinema; and a 16m window gallery space. Plus restaurants, cafes, an historic antiques market, offices and flats.
Bermondsey is easy to get to being just a short distance from Central London by public transport and served by multiple train, tube, bus and bike connections.
Funding Available for Community Events
The Bermondsey Square Community Fund makes awards of between £500 and £2,500 for events that benefit people living or working in Bermondsey.
Charges
Typically we will request a contribution to the Bermondsey Square Community Fund. The amount will depend on the nature of the project and space requirements. Payment is required 24 hours in advance of any event, filming or photography at Bermondsey Square.
Charges for use of the hotel, cinema and restaurants are separate and set by the owners of those businesses. Please contact them directly.

Venue Hire Guidance & Requirements
Please note: we wish to ensure minimal disruption and disturbance to the residents and businesses in Bermondsey Square.
Volume
The space is not suitable for events that involve excessive volume, prolonged periods of music or late night music.
Access
Please detail in your application activities or transport requirements which may impede access to the Square.
Existing Events
Markets run in the Square every Friday from 6am to 2pm and Saturday from 10am to 2pm. Filming or events which are likely to disrupt the markets will not be approved. Please check the Bermondsey Square events calendar for other planned events.
Prior Notice
We require at least two weeks’ notice for all filming/photography/event requests.
Risk Assessment
Enquiries should be accompanied by a detailed Risk Assessment / Method Statement.
Public Liability
A copy of the applicants public liability insurance and employer’s liability insurance must be submitted with the Risk Assessment / Method Statement.
Payment
Payment for all filming/photography/events and any auxiliary staff has to be paid in full before date of activity.
Student Requests
All the above criteria are still relevant to any student filming and photography other than the fee (if their proposal is acceptable there is no charge).
To be considered for no charge, students must provide the following:
- An NUS card
- A confirmation letter from the University or College lecturer on headed stationery to certify the applicant is studying
- A valid copy of the University or College Public Liability Insurance certificate of at least £2M.
