Southwark Speaks is an intergenerational project, presenting the life stories of a group of elderly residents in Southwark through the lens of their ‘special’ objects or places, with responses from a group of young poets.
The project aims to celebrate elders’ lives and experiences through artistic mediums, use performative techniques to promote intergenerational exchange, and use artistic and creative methods in presenting the life story, promoting deeper understanding and empathy in audience members.
“Stories help to build a society give society strength expose the weaknesses and when I tell my story I am able to expose the weaknesses and show the strength that society has.”
